To the west of the Sahyadri range in southern India lies a small town called Taliparamba, surrounded by numerous satellite villages. My home, Keezhatoor, is one such beautiful green village squeezed between two hills, dotted with coconut and betel trees, dissected by a small stream that we once used to irrigate the tropical paradise of lemon-green rice fields. I am one of the lucky ones to be born on this land; my name is Sooryakiran.
